It was a Festival Filled Weekend (FFW)

After being away from London for a month now, it was time to get back to what The City (or what the Northerners called The Big Fog) had to offer.  There are two more festivals we frequent on an annual basis: The London Drinkers: Beer and Cider Festival and The Feast.

London Drinkers (Friday, March 8): The Beer and Cider Festival in Camden comes through every March and stay from a Wednesday to Friday.  They offer upwards of 100 different local and unique beers and 20 ciders.  If you are beer/cider enthusiast, then this is somewhere you ought to visit.  Entry is £2.50 and you can purchase a refillable glass for £3.50 (souvenir).  All drinks are poured fresh out of a keg for your pleasure and usually provided to you by the lovely elderly gentlemen of CAMRA.  If you don’t get chatted up at least once while selecting a drink, I would call it a bad day.  London Drinkers is always a laugh. It’s a great place to visit with your friends or co-workers after a long day.  The people are super friendly and the drinkers are even better.  My Favorite Beer of the Night Award goes to Geek Unique by Beer Geek Brewery and the Best Pick Up goes to man with the glasses who blatantly pointed at dear Charlotte.  Atta boy!!

The Feast (Satuday, March 9): The Feast is a new event that started off quite small last year.  I didn’t really know what to expect from this when Saturday rolled around, but WOW is all I really had to say.  One: The Venue.  Tobacco Dock in Wapping was the prefect choice for this up and coming hipster type event.  The decor, the lighting and the atmosphere was absolutely prefect and it seriously took my breath away when we arrived.  An open-air enclosed acoustical sweet spot is the best way I can describe it.  It was absolutely buzzing from the live music to the Bourbon Bar and you really couldn’t help but join in.  Two: The Food.  The variety was endless: meatballs, burritos, fried chicken, mac n’ cheese, pizza, ramen, indian, oysters, meringue, and it goes on.  I only kept hoping I had more space in my belly.  Three: The Drinks.  Last year there was a whiskey company called Monkey Shoulder that exposed the crowds to a more causal whiskey experience.  This year there was a Bourbon Bar and they offered a selection of the slightly cheaper (Four Roses) to the slightly expensive (Woodford Reserve).  You had the option of neat or in cocktail form (e.g The Franklin) so you could be as bold as you liked.  I really could not speak any more highly about this event.  The Feast really out did themselves this year and I don’t know how they are going to top it.  Hats off.  The Best Company Name Award goes to Bone Daddies (ramen noodles) and the Most Innovative Meal goes to a collaboration between Forza Win and Pizza Pilgrims for a Pizza Sandwich.

Best weekend in a long time.  There’s a lot going on in London, get out there and see it.
